Insulin
Insulin is a natural hormone produced by the pancreas. It is the conduit necessary to transport sugar from the blood stream to create the energy for your cells to use. Diabetes is a medical condition whereby the body either cannot manufacture a sufficient amount of Insulin or does not use it properly.
Type 2 diabetes results when our blood sugar levels go out of balance because our bodies become insensitive to Insulin. Diet is an important factor in maintaining proper blood sugar levels. The complex carbohydrates found in most grains, vegetables, apples, and nuts are slow to digest. By slowing the process of digestion, healthy blood sugar levels are promoted by avoiding the highs and lows associated with the intake of refined sugars. The most common form of diabetes is type 2 diabetes and results from the body throwing up a resistance to its natural production or use or the beneficial hormone.
