Back Pain

Back Pain, needing some form of treatment, will be experienced by a majority of people at some time in their lives. Increasing flexibility is the usual treatment for muscular pain. Releasing the tight muscles and increasing their strength helps correct the imbalance to the muscles and give more stability to the spine. Muscles, tendons and nerves which surround the spine provide stability and support for the spinal column.

It is easy to strain the ligaments anywhere between the shoulders and the hips which can readily put your body out of balance. Weakened muscles need to be exercised and worked on to regain their proper strength. This helps avoid an imbalance in the spine and reduces the risk of injury. Uneven pressure caused by having weaker muscles in the front than the back can result in Back Pain.

While strengthening exercises are a must to help control some of the painful symptoms associated with Back Pain you should consult a trained professional before embarking on an exercise regime. There are many qualified people to consult rather than your local doctor. Physiotherapists, chiropractors, stretch therapists and sports medicine specialists are only a few that spring to mind. Acupuncture has been beneficial to many, while a simple exercise plan or just learning to sit properly has helped others.

Deep-breathing exercises can be useful in strengthening your back and may help reduce any discomfort you may endure. By making better use of your diaphragm muscles you can help support the spinal column and even lengthen the nerves and ligaments around your spine.  You can integrate breathing techniques into other exercises which can be beneficial in helping Back Pain.

There are many simple exercises that can be done to help with any pain you may have related to your back. Ones like placing your feet on the floor and pushing your pelvis upward toward the rib cage. This can relieve the stress on your back and focuses muscle contractions into the stomach area. Tummy tucks help to strengthen your muscles and can further help ease your pain. Try lying face down on the floor and squeezing your abdominal muscles so it draws away from the floor, then try to push your tailbone toward your heels. This exercise can work wonders in helping to relieve back ache.

Side stretches and the hip stretches are other exercises you could try to help with ailments around the lower back. This is where you bring your foot forward with a bent knee while your other leg is on the floor behind you with your foot pointed upwards toward the ceiling. This exercise can give you a great release when you are suffering Back Pain and helps loosen up the muscles of your back on the spine near the hips. You normally begin to feel stretching in the back of your leg and in the thigh front and the hamstring on your forward leg.

While at times you may need to take drugs for pain relief from the most severe pain you will be amazed at what the consistent practice of a few good exercises can do to help with your Back Pain problems.
